is a campaign aligning community organizations and schools with a common mission: to bring all students to grade level reading by the end of 3rd grade.
With a focus on developing the potential of youth, improving individual health and well-being, and giving back to and supporting communities, your participation brings about meaningful change not just within yourself, but also in your community.
The YMCA is part of a nonprofit organization of over 2,700 Ys located in 10,000 communities
across the United States dedicated to strengthening the communities they serve.

SCHOOL Impact
Research on more than 21,000 students in districts across the country shows that by the end of 3rd grade, students' Growth Rates (what's happening in school) accounts for 60% of their reading ability.
COMMUNITY Impact
Community Impact (what's happening outside of school) accounts for 38%!
The combined effort of schools and communities accounts for a total of 98% of students' success - so only when these efforts are aligned can we maximize students' literacy outcomes.
COMMUNITY/SCHOOL ALIGNMENT
Learning Ovations has created alignment across districts/schools and community organizations by providing all stakeholders with an ESSA Strong online platform capable of delivering access to common measures, a reliable database, and proven, evidence-based instructional recommendations through a series of new tools connected to the proven-ESSA Strong A2i algorithms being used successfully in schools across the country.

Here's one example from Read Charlotte: The Reading Check Up to support parents and caregivers in multiple languages in bringing the exact type of reading instruction required AND consistent with their classroom teachers recommendations
OUR PARTNERSHIP IN THE NEWS
Use of these Learning Ovations tools for home, after school programs; preK, summer programs and tutoring in combination with community partnerships, will create the framework for establishing a solution that will improve reading outcomes for ALL students.
Further, this also allows existing community-based literacy organizations to form the core infrastructure that can then be used to coordinate work and leverage funding across entire communities and in partnership with the school district. Finally, these Learning Ovations tools can also serve to strengthen the communication and engagement between educational institutions (districts or schools) and community groups.
